RevSure can help you create campaign associations based on the page visit URL. There are 2 types of campaigns we can create from the URL - UTM campaigns and Referrer campaigns. These are explained below.
Please note that:
While creating Referrer campaigns, we make sure to look at URLs without “utm_campaign” parameter.
We exclude domains like Google, LinkedIn, Facebook and Bing from this process so that we capture only 3rd party referrers.
Creating UTM Campaigns from URLs
We create these types of campaigns based on the ‘utm_campaign’ values present in URLs visited by the Leads in the system. Currently, we only support Hubspot Page Visit URLs. However, we will soon extend it to the First Party URLs and URLs from other source systems.
The UTM parameters are parsed from the URLs and mapped to fields in the Campaign entity as below:
utm_campaign → Campaign Name
utm_source → Campaign Source
utm_medium → Campaign Type
“UTM” → Campaign Source System
Campaign Member entries are created for these campaigns based on lead_id available in activity and page visit timestamps.
Creating Referrer Campaigns from URLs
The ‘Referrer’ type campaigns are created similarly to the UTM type campaigns - based on the Page Referrer URLs. The referrer campaigns are created only from the URLs that do not have a ‘utm_campaign’ parameter in them.
Field mapping for the Campaign entity is below:
Top Level Domain name of the referrer URL → Campaign Name
E.g., g2.com, capterra.com, softwareadvice.com, etc.
Primary Domain name → Campaign Source
E.g.: g2.com, capterra.com, softwareadvice.com, etc.
“Referrer” → Campaign Source System
Campaign member entries are created for these campaigns based on lead_id available in activity and page visit timestamps.
Website Campaigns
Website Campaigns are created based on the Page Visit URLs
We obtain the mapping from the customer and map the important website pages to campaign names
The campaign name is derived from customer mapping
Campaign Type contains the traffic source information, based on rules captured in Campaign Channel Classification.
For example, ‘Webpage Visit’ can mapped to either ‘Direct Traffic’ or ‘Paid Social’ or ‘Paid Search’ based on the rules for channel classification
Campaign Source contains the referrer information
Campaign Description contains the Page Title
